Cameron Smith - Pastor

Cameron began ministry at New Hope in January of 2009.

After graduating from Salem High School, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Sciences Education at Liberty University in 1987.  After spending some years in the working world as a teacher and a vocational rehabilitation counselor, he began to sense a call to the pastoral ministry.  Cameron completed seminary studies and received a Master of Divinity degree from Reformed Theological Seminary--Orlando (FL), in May 2002.

Cameron enjoys reading theology, history, and biography; avidly follows the news; finds politics distasteful, but necessary (viva la republic!); soaks in football (Go Hokies!) as well as basketball (around playoff time); and prefers music from the 70's...and maybe a few from the very, very early 80's.

Cameron and his wife, Shannon, a veterinarian in the area, have been married for 19 years and have three children and an assortment of animals:  Matthew, Rachel, and Noelle; three dogs, two horses, two ducks, lots of chickens (sigh), one cat and a few fish.  (Can you tell he's married to a Vet?)  Cameron grew up in Roanoke and, after nearly seventeen years away from the Valley, is delighted to be back "home" in Salem.

Donna Boles - Music Director

Donna Boles began her journey of music at Wildwood Presbyterian Church at the age of 10, playing piano solos for the worship service. When the church relocated to the Keesling Avenue location, she soon filled the shoes of choir director and accompanist. She now directs all the children, youth, adult, and ensemble choirs at New Hope, as well as a chime choir. She is also the pianist and organist of New Hope. Donna has directed community choirs over past years leading adults, youth, and children in special worship services and cantatas.

Donna graduated from Hollins University in May of 2010 with a degree in Music and concentration in Piano Performance. She also received her Piano Teaching Certification and has a teaching studio in her home. She presently serves on the Executive Board with the Roanoke Valley Music Teacher’s Association and is a member of the local Federation of Music Clubs where she serves as judicator. Donna is married to Ivan and they have two children and three grandchildren whom they adore.

Pat Hylton - Church Treasurer

Artice Ledbetter - Church Secretary

Artice joined the staff of New Hope in July 2010.  She is a native of Indiana but claims Virginia as her home having lived here over 13 years.  She is a proud wife, mother of 3, and a volunteer in several community and church organizations.  She is grateful to God for bringing her to New Hope and praying that she will not only be blessed, but be a blessing to others at New Hope as she strives to glorify Him through service.

Nancy Hartberger Sandy Carpenter - Custodial Staff

As a long time native of the area and active member of New Hope for many years, Nancy has been employed as a  custodian at our church for over a year.  We are so grateful to Nancy for her services in keeping our church so clean and inviting.

Sandy is Nancy's daughter and together they are an unstoppable duo!  Sandy was born in the area, is married, and has two children.  She, too, has been employed by New Hope for over a year.
